An Iranian official with the IRIB TV department says Iran’s historical and religious series top the organization’s sales of broadcasting rights to foreign countries.

The head of the international media office of the IRIB TV department, Ali-Karbalaei Hosseini, said Iran’s historical and religious series are “one of the most popular genres for all Iranian TV shows, both inside Iran and abroad, especially in Muslim countries”.

Hosseini added that ‘Prophet Joseph’, ‘The Men of Angelos’ and ‘Saint Mary’ are among the most popular media products demanded by various foreign TV channels.”

The official noted that 45 countries have so far bough media products from Iran, noting that Asia-Pacific countries, Turkey, and West Asian countries as well as European countries are among the top buyers of IRIB’s products, including animations, TV series, movies and documentaries.

Noting that the Iranian religious and historical works are famous for being of high-quality, Hosseini said that international parties are even keen to buy the rights to show TV series such as ‘Salman the Persian’ and ‘Prophet Moses, which are yet to be finished.
